31 Days of Prayers for Children: DAY 7

DAY 7 (Things on their minds)


Our Father our children have so many things on their minds. They want to grow up, they want to spend their own money, they want to not be left out of the social circles, so many overwhelming thoughts and what seems to be a never-ending bag of needs. We commit all their needs in your hands and pray that they will lean on you with all their understanding. In Jesus name, amen.

The Child's Prayer: 
Dear Jesus, help me not to worry but be very thoughtful with all my decisions and choices amen.

Notes to Parents: 
It's important that we teach our children to think vs worry. When I was a little boy, my parents would often hold their chin in their hand, and we thought that was a posture for worrying. It actually is a posture for holding the weight of their head by supporting their neck and providing the head with the opportunity to think things through more clearly.

Called to Love

I have been treated badly in recent times by persons who really should be the 'keepers of my soul' and people who claim that they 'love' me. On more than one occasion I was tempted to reciprocate the treatment. It takes great strength to love and restrain oneself, especially when you know you are not deserving of the ill treatment. The bible reminds us that we ought to ,"...Love our enemies, bless them that curse us, do good to them that hate us, and pray for them which despitefully use us and persecute us;" -St. Matt. 5:44 God expects that even when others are 'deserving' of our bad treatment and have fully earned the right to be 'hated', that we will love them and love them without discrimination. Think about it, it is so difficult to even forgive and love those we call friends whenever they hurt us, more so an enemy. Dear God I know you are great and wonderful and I also know you are listening to this prayer. From a very early age you called Samuel and placed him to serve your people. God You showed Joseph the blue print of his life through his dreams...but God what do you want from me?
